The EU is monitoring the situation in Russia, a representative of the European Commission has said. According to him, the EU considers what is happening to be an internal matter of Russia.
“The EU considers the current events to be an internal matter of Russia. We are monitoring the situation,” he told reporters.
Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin called the performance of Yevgeny Prigozhin, founder of the private military company (PMC) Wagner, an armed mutiny. The President noted that actions to protect the people will be tough, and added that those involved in the preparation of the insurgency “will suffer imminent punishment”. He stressed that “the armed forces and state agencies have received the necessary orders”.
